Vanilla Buttercream

Here’s how to make it:

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp vanilla 
  • 1 lb confectioner’s sugar 
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 3 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment (or using a hand mixer), whip the butter and salt together on medium speed for about 1 minute, until smooth and creamy.
  2. Gradually sift in the confectioner’s sugar in batches, mixing on low speed after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed, and continue until all the sugar is incorporated.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of cream while mixing on low, then pour in the vanilla extract. Increase the speed to medium-high and beat until the frosting is light, fluffy, and smooth.
  4. If you’d like a thinner consistency, mix in a little more cream or milk, one teaspoon at a time, until it reaches your desired texture.

    Pro Tips:

    • Always sift your powdered sugar to prevent lumps and clogged piping tips.

    • Scrape down the sides and bottom of your bowl regularly to keep the buttercream evenly mixed.

    • Feel free to customize your buttercream with different flavors like fruit juice, espresso, melted chocolate, citrus zest, or cookie crumbs!
